Three Bangladeshi youths shot by BSF

Three Bangladeshi youths sustained bullet wounds in firing by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) along Hatibandha frontier in Lalmonihat district on Friday.

Confriming the matter, BGB’s Singimari BOP Camp Commander Naik Subedar Safizul Islam, said the firing took place around 3.30pm on Friday.

Among the injured, one was identified as Altab Hossain, 55, son of Baccha Sheikh of the area, while the identities of the other injured could not be known immediately.

According to the border sources, the farmer Altab Hossain along with others were working in the field between the 8-9 sub pillars of the main pillar number 893 of the border inside Bangladesh when BSF fired at them, leaving three people injured.

Locals rescued them and took to Hatibandha Upazila Health Complex where they were undergoing treatment.

Singimari Union Parishad Chairman Manowar Hossain said he was informed that three people were injured in BSF firing and Altab’s condition is critical among them.

Naik Subedar Safizul Islam, said on information, BGB went to the spot and a flag meeting with BSF was underway. Detailes will be briefed later, he added.
