First female MD in bank
Humaira Azam has become the first woman to head a commercial bank in Bangladesh following her appointment as managing director of Trust Bank.
An International Relations graduate from the Dhaka University, Humaira joined the ANZ Grindlays Bank as management trainee officer in 1990.
In ANZ Grindlays Bank, she contributed to the local corporate’s development in Bangladesh as early as 1992. Later, she joined HSBC since its inception and laid a very strong framework for corporate off-shore banking unit.
In April 2009, Humaira joined IPDC of Bangladesh as its managing director and CEO and later worked at Bank Asia from 2012 to 2018 as the deputy managing director and chief risk officer. In 2018, she joined Trust Bank as an additional managing director.
