PM for reopening educational institutes soon
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the authorities concerned to reopen the educational institutions as early as possible taking into consideration Covid-19 infections and the vaccination situation in the country.
The Premier gave the directive during a meeting with secretaries from different ministries and divisions, said Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam while briefing journaliststs on Wednesday.
“The meeting discussed in details the reopening of educational institutions. After the discussion, Prime Minister ordered to reopen the educational institutions at the quickest possible time on the basis of conducive scenario of the pandemic ,” he said.
The Cabinet Secretary said the Prime Minister has also instructed to continue the virtual or online based education programmes. The Secretary Meeting held at the NEC conference Room in city’s Sher-e-Banglanagar attended by secretaries of different ministries and divisions.
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam conducted the meeting. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed the meeting virtually from her official Ganobhaban residence.
Khandker Anwarul Islam said the government has a stock of 1.04 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine and it has got assurance of 21.04 crore more doses .
“At present, we’ve a stock of 1.04 crore doses. We’ve also got assurance for 21 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far,” he said this while briefing journalists about the Secretary Meeting at the secretariat here today.
He said the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase in its last meeting approved procurement of six core more doses of vaccine. He said the country so far got 3.10 crore doses of vaccine of which 2.05 crore jabs have already been administered.
Khandker Anwarul Islam said students above 18 years should be brought under vaccination programme immediately adding that students in different groups who are eligible will also be vaccinated on priority basis .
