Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka asked Bangladesh to bat first after winning the toss in the crucial Asia Cup T20 game today at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The game turned out to be ‘do or die’ game for both of the sides after they lost to Afghanistan, who became the first team to move to the Super Fours.
Afghanistan crushed Sri Lanka by eight wickets and whacked Bangladesh past by seven wickets.
Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan however was not happy with his toss luck, saying that he also would like to bowl first if he won the toss.
“We wanted to field first, but that’s not in our control. We didn’t bat well against Afghanistan, but today is a different day” Shakib said.
Shakib informed that they brought up three changes to the squad from the previous game as they are eying the Super Fours.
“We have three changes in our team, we have made quite a few changes. Hopefully that will work for us today. We want to play some good cricket today, we are not concerned about what is being talked in the media.”
For Bangladesh, Sabbir Rahman, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Ebadot Hossain coming in for Anamul Haque Bijoy, Naim Sheikh and Mohammad Saifuddin.
Sabbir however will be playing his first game in this format after 2019.
Sri Lanka meanwhile made just the one change, with Asitha Fernando making his debut. He replaced Matheesha Pathirana.
“We are going to bowl first. It’s a used wicket, so chasing will be important. We had a good preparation coming into this game. We need to concentrate on our batting. We will try to play as we have been playing in the last two years. The team that comes up with a good performance, wins,” Sri Lanka captain Shanaka said.
