President, PM greet entrepreneurs for getting ‘President’s Industrial Development Award’

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today issued separate messages greeting all the industrial entrepreneurs, who have been selected for the ‘President’s Industrial Development Award 2019’ which will be given tomorrow.

President M Abdul Hamid, in his message, said the initiative of Ministry of Industries to provide ‘President’s Industrial Development Award 2019’ is commendable.

He said industrialization is a knowledge-based and creative endeavor, he said, adding that the overall progress and prosperity of the nation depends on sustainable and environment-friendly industrialization.

The government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken various initiatives to expand industrialization, trade and investment in Bangladesh in over the last one decade, the head of the state added.

Because of various issues, including the development of communication infrastructure, implementation of sector based projects, increase in productivity in industry, creation of skilled and trained manpower,
diversification of export products, determination of investment friendly tax and tariff structure, granting of state recognition and rewards to entrepreneurs and special incentives for foreign direct investment, and
Bangladesh has become one of the most attractive investment destinations in South Asia, he continued.

“At this time, SME industry has developed at the grassroots level. The participation of women in income generating activities has increased at a significant rate, with the expansion of mobile financial services,” Hamid
said.

In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said: “I am happy to know that the President’s Industrial Development Award 2019 is being given on the initiative of the Ministry of Industries. I congratulate all the industrial entrepreneurs selected for the award.”

he prime minister said that the greatest Bengali of all time, Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had adopted various plans to make Bangladesh an industrialized country. After independence, Bangabandhu nationalized most of the large industrial factories to strengthen the industrial sector, she said, adding that in the light of the economic philosophy of the Father of Nation, the Awami League government has been working for the last 13 years to increase investment in the industrial sector, maximize the productive capacity of existing industries through proper protection and enable more competition through multi-faceted expansion of export oriented industries.

Today, Bangladesh is a ‘role model of development’ across the globe, she said.

Bangladesh has recently won the ‘SDG Progress Award’ in recognition of its achievements in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from 2015 to 2020, she continued.

“This achievement will further accelerate the development progress of Bangladesh,” she hoped.

Both the President and the Prime minister wished the programme of the ‘President’s
Industrial Development Award’ a success.
