President visits under-construction ‘Mithamain Cantonment’

President M Abdul Hamid today witnessed the progress of the construction works of Mithamain Cantonment  here.

On his arrival in  cantonment area under  Mithamain upazila, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 19th  Infantry Division Major General Naquib Ahmed Chowdhury welcomed the head of the state.

Later,  a brief discussion   regarding the under-construction cantonment was held .

The President, also the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, was also apprised of the overall progress of the construction by the GOC.

Later the president,  on board a water vessel, went round the 275-acre under-construction cantonment area.

He also witnessed  Abdul Hamid Polli adjacent to the cantonment from river side.

Earlier, the President inspected the work progress of “Rastropoti Abdul Hamid Foundation” in front of his ancestral residence.

Local lawmaker Rezwan Ahmmad Taufiq, Mithamain Upazila Parishad Chairman and President’s sister Asia Alam, President’s Military Secretary SM Salauddin Islam, Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin and senior civil and military officials accompanied him.

The President arrived in Kishoreganj on March 27 on a five-day visit to oversee some ongoing development projects at his native district and exchange views with the local representatives and professionals.

He is scheduled to return to Dhaka on March 31.
