Mamata Banerjee’s fate as Bengal CM to be decided today

The results of the Shamserganj and Jangipur constituencies in the Indian state of West Bengal and the by-elections in the Bhabanipur constituency will be announced on Sunday (October 3). However, the whole of India, including West Bengal, is keeping an eye on the Bhabanipur constituency. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is contesting this seat. This election is being seen as a struggle to retain his chief ministership.

Mamata Banerjee is winning this election effortlessly from different sections of the political circles. And if that is the case, she will be the Chief Minister of West Bengal. However, the opposition BJP is not giving up hope. The party’s state president Sukant Majumder has banned his party’s agents from leaving the booth until the vote count is over.

He said at a party meeting on Friday that even though he was behind by 50,000 votes, he would have to stay in the booth till the end. However, the Anandabazar newspaper reported that the Trinamool had won the last assembly elections in Bhabanipur by a wide margin. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself is again the candidate in the by-elections. The turnout was also unsatisfactory. So the BJP is calculating the number of votes it is losing, not the hope of winning. The BJP is also not optimistic about Shamserganj or Jangipur, where the election results will be announced along with Bhabanipur on Sunday. Because in Murshidabad there is no organization, there was no wind. So the BJP is at least mentally ready for the result that is going to be 3-0.

And even though Mamata’s rival Priyanka Tibrewal portrayed herself as a fighter in the campaign, she was completely silent the day before the results were announced. “I’m not thinking about the results,” he told Anandabazar Online. Which has become. Now I am busy with other work. While Priyanka is busy with other work, part of the BJP camp is calculating the margin of defeat. Almost all of the state leaders think that the margin of victory in the by-elections will be greater for the Trinamool than in the Assembly elections. Mamata can win by a margin of 30 to 40 thousand votes.

According to a top BJP leader, the Bhabanipur area has a large Muslim electorate. Although their vote was EVM captive, the Hindu vote could not be consolidated in that way. As a result, the margin of victory of the grassroots may increase. Shobhandev won by 28,719 votes. This time Mamata can go beyond that. The grassroots are also hopeful that Mamata will win by a wide margin.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has issued Section 144 outside the counting center in Bhabanipur. A statement issued by the commission on Saturday said that the Kolkata police was also taking precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incident during the counting of votes in Bhabanipur constituency.

Mamata had lost to BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari in the Nandigram constituency in the assembly polls. Thereafter, the Bhabanipur assembly seat was vacated by the West Bengal Agriculture Minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay in May, paving the way for Mamata Banerjee to contest the bypoll.
