The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has adjusted the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the consumer level in the country. The price of 12 kg cylinder has been increased by Tk 226.

In the private sector, LPG for 12 kg cylinders has been increased from Tk 1,033 to Tk 1,259 including VAT. This is the highest retail price, effective October 10.

And the price of LPG of the state-owned company has not changed as the cost has not changed at the production stage. The official price of 12 kg LPG has remained at Tk 591.

The new price of LPG used in cars is Tk 58.68 paise per liter, which was earlier Tk 50.56 paise.

BERC, the energy regulator, announced the new prices at an online press conference on Sunday.

On April 12, the company set the price of LPG for the first time in the country. Since then, prices have been adjusted once a month.

It is learned that propane and butane, the main ingredients for making LPG, are imported from different countries. Saudi Aramco publishes the price of these two components of LPG every month. This is known as Saudi Cargo Price (CP). BERC has adjusted the price of LPG in the country based on the base price of this Saudi CP.

BERC members Mohammad Abu Farooq, Maqbool E Ilahi Chowdhury, Mohammad Bazlur Rahman, Md. Kamruzzaman were also present at the press conference. At the beginning of the press conference, the secretary of the commission Rubina Ferdousi welcomed everyone.
