Communal groups will be resisted as in 1971: Hanif

Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif MP said, “We did not fight to see the boast of communal evil forces in Bangladesh.” 3 million martyrs did not sacrifice to see this Bangladesh. We have fought to build a secular Bangladesh. We will build a non-communal Bangladesh by resisting those fundamentalists, fanatics who are still spreading communal poison in the society like 71 for the sake of religion, those who are still burning houses.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a painting competition organized by Gaurab’71 on the occasion of the 58th birthday of Sheikh Russell, the youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, at the premises of the central Shaheed Minar on Monday (October 18) afternoon.

Hanif said Pakistan, the defeated power of 1971, and its allies had killed the father of the nation. Sheikh Russell was not spared from avenging the defeat of 1971. Little Russell died at the age of nine. If he were alive today, he would be 58 years old. Sheikh Russell, the youngest son of the father of the greatest Bengali nation of all time, was martyred on 15 August 1971. The day is very scandalous for the nation.

Communal groups will be resisted as in 1971: Hanif

He said the seeds of communalism have been sown in Bangladesh by killing the father of the nation in 1975. The non-communal consciousness with which Father of the Nation Bangabandhu dreamed for the establishment of this independent state has been shattered. Those who were killed and tortured for the sake of religion in 1971 have been rehabilitated by the state. Today the tree is from that seed, and that tree has gone to the roots of Bengal because it was nurtured.

Unfortunately for us, the whole nation is saddened and shocked at the 50th anniversary of our independence.

The Awami League joint general secretary said, “The mentality, policy and spirit with which we fought and liberated the country has been hurt today.” People of other religions have been barred from practicing their religion. People of traditional religions have been hit. The house has been set on fire. Who are these? Today it is clear to the nation. He said that the war criminals and fundamentalist groups who are doing these things in the name of religion are still active. This is a deep conspiracy to make Bangladesh a slave state, a Taliban state in the ideology of Pakistan. They want to destroy our culture, they want to destroy our sovereignty. They have threatened the sovereignty of the country. Hanif thanked Gaurab ’71 for organizing a drawing competition with children at that time.
