Two-day Jibanananda poetry fair begins in Rajshahi

A two-day ‘Jibanananda Poetry Fair-2021’ began on Barendra College premises in Rajshahi city on Friday with the call for establishing non-communal atmospheres everywhere in the society. Report BSS

Kabikunja, a literary organisation, is hosting the fair for the ninth consecutive time creating an assembling place of many poets and literary cultural personalities from various parts of the country.

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the opening ceremony as the chief guest while Director General of Bangla Academy Poet Nurul Huda inaugurated the event with Kabikunja President Professor Ruhul Amin Pramanik in the chair.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Rajshahi University Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar,Member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission Abdul Mannan, Assistant Indian High Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Vatti, Poet Mukid Haider and Poet and Researcher Prof Tasiqul Islam Raja also spoke.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Liton said contribution of the literary and cultural personalities is very significant to the nation-building activities, including establishment of non-communal society.

He told the audience that the present government is working relentlessly to this end.

Liton also underscored the need for boosting literary and cultural practices to make society beautiful. Successful promotion of cultural messages could be vital means of keeping the younger generation away from
various unsocial activities, he added.
