Rumeen Farhana’s phone lost in rally; 20K prize money announced if recovered

BNP’s Member of Parliament (MP) of reserved constituency Rumeen Farhana, lost her mobile phone while visiting the party’s rally venue on Friday night the day before BNP’s Cumilla mass rally.

According to sources, she went down to the Liberty Square in the town hall ground of the rally and went to the stage with a procession, and greeted the staff and spoke to the press. After walking she visited the field and went to Pubali Square. Later when she got into the vehicle, she realized her phone has been stolen.

The former mayor of Cumilla City Corporation, Monirul Haque Sakku was informed regarding the matter.

A GD at Kotwali police station in Comilla was also filed regarding the theft.

Rumeen Farhana said, she has provided the police necessary details to trace her mobile phone such as the IMEI number.

However, she also said that she did not get any cooperation from the police station.’

Police OC Ahmed Sanjur Morshed confirmed that a general diary has been made at Kotwali police station in Comilla regarding the loss of Rumin Farhana’s mobile phone. However, he could not tell who did the GD.

Meanwhile, the theft of the mobile phone was announced on the rally’s broadcast mic on the night the device was stolen. It said, “If anyone finds the mobile phone, then a cash reward of 20,000 taka will be given if it is submitted to the former mayor of Cumilla City Corporation, Monirul Haque Sakku. The name of the person who traced the device will remain anonymous.”
