Modern Mansion in Motijheel declared a risk by fire service

The Fire Service and Civil Defense has declared the ‘Modern Mansion’ building in Motijheel of the capital as risky. The announcement was made after inspections as cracks appeared on different floors of the building. On Wednesday (March 9) morning, a banner reading ‘Risky’ was put up in the building.

Khaleda Yasmin, a duty officer at the fire service’s control room, said the first news of a crack in the building came on Sunday (March 6). A team from the fire service later went and barred people from entering. The building was then inspected for three days by people from the Capital Development Authority.

It can be seen that there are cracks in the three floors of the 15-storey building and two pillars of the three-storey building. The cracks are quite deep. After considering all the factors, it was decided whether the building was commercial or uninhabitable. That is why it is called a ‘risky building’.

The owner and the police have been informed about this, said the fire service official.
