BNP brings out mourning procession after failure in movement: Obaidul Quader

Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday, August 25  said BNP brought out mourning procession carrying black flags as their movement has finally failed.

While addressing at a peace rally arranged by AL’s Dhaka city south unit at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital, Obaidul Quader said there will be no high tide in the dead river of BNP’s movement.

He further said, “Why BNP should bring out black flags processions? Did anyone die? Black flags procession is a mourning procession. What is the reason behind BNP’s mourning? Flag of the movement is supposed to be red or green. The country’s national flag has these colours. BNP claimed their movement as mass procession. How can it be a mass procession without participation of commoners?”

Obaidul Quader added, “Do you (BNP) want to see procession? We will show you what procession is. The procession of AL means huge gathering of people. AL will arrange a youth rally on September one where millions of youths will participate. Not the mourning flags but millions of youth will hold procession carrying the flags of the victory. Throats of BNP leaders got dry. There is no strength in BNP’s procession and rally. All of their strength is declining. High tide is not come in BNP’s dead river.”

He mentioned BNP’s dream to go to power is far away. Why will Sheikh Hasina step down? What crime she does?  Why will Sheikh Hasina resign? She is loved and supported by the people of the country. People of Bangladesh will not want a person to remove from power who is loved by them.BNP is spreading panic among people about sanction and visa policy. Sanctions should be imposed against BNP as they hold movement by blocking roads.

Quader claimed that BNP’s movement diminished in Golapbagh cattle haat, and said BNP holds “picnic parties” in the name of rally.

He also said, “We do not think that Bangladesh is safe under a corrupt party like BNP. If the Awami League remains united, our victory in the next general election is certain.”

The rally was chaired by AL’s Dhaka city south unit president Abu Ahmed Mannafi. Among others, AL presidium member Dr Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddun, joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, organizing secretary SM Kamal Hossain and executive member Sanjida Khanam spoke.
