Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 7 wickets to level T20I series

Bangladesh all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain got his first five wickets before Litton Das hit fifty to chase down Zimbabwe’s 136 runs target comfortably in the second T20I match at Harare Sports Club, Harare on Sunday.

The Tigers have won the match by seven wickets as Bangladesh leveled the three-match series 1-1.

Earlier, Mosaddek had the home side in problems from the first delivery, as the right-handed off-spinner dismissed Regis Chakabva for naught.

The right-arm spinner went on to dismiss Wessle Madhevere (4) in the same over and destroy Zimbabwe’s top order in his full quota of four overs, dismissing Craig Ervine (1), Sean Williams (8), and Milton Shumba (3) one by one.

Mosaddek, who had only taken seven wickets in the previous 19 T20Is, became the fourth Bangladesh bowler to take a fifer in T20Is, following Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, and Elias Sunny, with a figure of five for 20 runs in four overs and 15 dot balls.

Pakistan-born Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl then stopped the rot, adding 80 runs for the sixth wicket as none of five other Bangladesh bowlers could emulate Hossain.

Raza scored 62 off 53 deliveries, including two sixes and four fours, before being caught in the covers by Munim Shahriar off the bowling of Mustafizur Rahman.

Apart from Raza, Burl (32) and Luke Jongwe (11 not out) were the only Zimbabwe batsmen to reach double figures.

Bangladesh 136 for 3 (Litton 56, Afif 30*, Williams 1-13) beat Zimbabwe 135 for 8 (Raza 62, Burl 32, Mosaddek 5-20) by seven wickets
