Domingo embarrassed over ‘resignation’ issue

Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Thursday that Test and ODI’s head coach Russell Domingo feels that recently he was misrepresented in the media.

Before returning to South Africa to spend holiday, Domingo vented his anger on the BCB in some interviews with some Bangladeshi media which sparked the speculations that his relations with the BCB is just about to come to an end.

To make things further complicated it was reported in a local media on Thursday that Domingo, whose contract runs till November 2023, have resigned from his post.

“We are seeing it and I feel the whole thing is misrepresentation. Today we spoke at length with Russell and he is embarrassed because the way the things are coming into the media he is a bit awkward with that and that is why he requested you that it should not come in this way,” Nizamuddin told reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday.

“Because it is relationship between employee and employer and we can have misunderstanding and so to avoid it( misunderstanding) spoke at length with Russell and even you wanted to know. The thing is that it( those news) are not right. It’s not lies( those news) and I am repeating two parties had miscommunication,” he said.

“I am not saying all the information is wrong but according to him some are wrong and it did not come out as he had said and there is no way we can complicate it. Not everything but there parts are misrepresented,” he said.

Nizamuddin said that the Doming did not submit his resignation to the board and added that they are expecting him to be with the ‘A’ team during the tour of UAE in end September to take on their Afghans counterpart.

“The ultimate thing is that he did not resign and Domingo is a coach of Bangladesh Cricket Board and our relation is like board and coach and there is no complication in it,” he said.

“We are hoping that he will go to Dubai during the ‘A’ team tour (against Afghanistan) and will stay there from end September or start October,” he concluded.
