Nobody pays heed to American sanctions: Obaidul Quader
Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said Bangladesh will move ahead according to its constitution. “We don’t accept the sanctions of any country. They couldn’t defeat us imposing sanctions in 1971. They won’t be able to stop Sheikh Hasina today by imposing sanctions. We don’t care the sanctions of anyone else.”
He was speaking at a ‘peace and development’ rally organised by Dhaka District Awami League at Jinjira in Keraniganj in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
Obaidul Quader said: “Nobody pays any heed to the American sanctions. Venezuela, Gabon and Sudan didn’t pay heed to the US sanctions. The United States couldn’t bring its choice of government to power in Venezuela. Even, many of the so-called first ranking countries don’t bother about the UN sanctions. They have imposed sanctions on us and we will also impose sanctions on them. Darkness will gradually disappear, fog will disappear.”
He added that Awami League doesn’t bow its head to anybody else. “We’re waiting to see how BNP occupies the Dhaka city. Awami League will occupy the entire country with red and green flags.”
The AL General Secretary said, “America imposes sanction on Bangladesh, while BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul scares us of that sanction. What a pity! It seems that America has appointed BNP its agent to scare the government.
Referring to the remarks of Mirza Fakhrul, Obaidul Quader said BNP is now crying. Fakhrul may cry constantly, but he would not be pardoned. “We’ll take revenge of the killings of fathers and husbands. You’ll never be pardoned. People of Bangladesh won’t forgive BNP.”
The AL leader said, “Our captain (Sheikh Hasina) is now in America. Games will take place after her return to Bangladesh. Mirza Fakhrul Islam will have to cry in the days ahead. Some people including Mirza Abbas dreamt of moon-lit nights. But, all your dreams will disappear.”
Dhaka District Awami League president Benazir Ahmed MP presided over the rally, while general secretary Moniruzzaman Tarun moderated it.
Awami League presidium members Advocate Quamrul Islam MP, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, organising secretary Mirza Azam, state minister for power Nasrul Hamid Bipu MP, Keraniganj Upazila chairman Shahin Ahmed, Dhaka District AL organising secretary Haji Sakur Hossain, South Keraniganj Thana AL general secretary ME Mamun and Haji Iqbal, among others, spoke at the rally.
