Toronto Bangla School observes Amar Ekushey

Toronto Bangla School, a specialized educational institute for children of non-resident Bangladeshis (NRB) in Canada, observed Amar Ekushey and international mother language day to keep touch the learners with native language and culture.

The teachers and students participated the cultural programme over virtual platform on February 21 morning local time, said a news release.

Bangladesh Ambassador in Canada Dr Khalilur Rahman was the chief guest while provincial parliament member Doli Begum and Rima Berns-McGown, city councilor Gary Crawford and Garry Bradford also connected to the function.

TBS President Fakhruddin Ahmad made address of welcome and writer Masud Rana shared thought on language movement among the participants.

The programme began with introduction from TBS Secretary Siddartha Saha while a student, Anjum Ashraf read out land acknowledgement.  Teacher Nasrin Islam hosted the session and Rafia Mokbul detailed the event.

Then students participated in the cultural function virtually. Participants in poem and rhyme recitation are: Afrida, Noor, Amrin, Arian, Salwa, Sohana, Samania, Tahmid, Mahib, Elisa, Jovan, Sejin, Asmita, Tajrin, Soha, Julfa, Fatima, Anjum, Arisha, Tabasani, Belamoni, Rehan and volunteer Arju Moon Jerin.

Participants in music and Islamic song are: Afia, Debasmita, Namira, Joyeen, Smiya, Rayeed, Anuska, Sabina and Anisa. Besides, Ania performed dance while Dibyojeet made music.

In collaboration with HSDN International, the School started journey in May of 2017 with two students and two teachers. In last three years, the number of student stood at 60.  Alongside of the academic text, the student get opportunities to  learn music, drawing and recitation to develop co-curricular talent.
