Largest ever budget placed
With an outlay of Tk 6.03 trillion, the proposed national budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year has been placed in the parliament.
The new budget is about about 17.4 percent of GDP and around 12 percent higher than revised budget of current fiscal while 6.34 percent higher than the main budget.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presented the budget on Thursday afternoon – the third one from the incumbent government.
The size of the total expenditure has been estimated at Tk 6.03 trillion, which is 17.5 percent of the GDP.
Total allocation for operating and other expenditures has been set at Tk 3.78 trillion, while the allocation for the annual development programme (ADP) is Tk 2.25 trillion.
The total revenue collection has fixed at Tk 3.92 trillion, of which Tk 3.3 trillion will be raised by the where National Board of Revenue (NBR) Tk 160 billion will come from the non-NBR sector and Tk 430 billion will come from non-tax sources.
Besides, Tk 34.9 billion will come from foreign aid, grants and loans.
The overall budget deficit for FY2021-22 will be Tk 2.14 trillion, which is 6.2 percent of the GDP.
