Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan turns a year older as he celebrates his 79th birthday today (October 11)

To celebrate his special day, Big B, who is an avid social media user, took to his Instagram handle and gave his fans a quick glimpse of how he intends to welcome the new era of his life.

Sharing a collage of his stunning pictures, the Pink actor captioned the post, “Walking into the 80th.” In the shared picture, the star, who is known as the Shahenshah of Indian cinema, donned the casual look with perfection.

Fans and fellow members of the film industry went gaga after seeing Bachchan’s trendy avatar and flooded the comments section with birthday wishes.

“swag. Happy birthday sir,” Bhumi Pednekar wrote.

“Gangster,” Ranveer Singh added.

Big B’s daughter Shweta Bachchan commented, “79th,” with a heart emoticon.

Earlier today, his fans gathered outside the ‘Jalsa’ residence to celebrate the actor’s birthday.

Fans were seen cutting a cake and playing songs outside the actor’s residence. (ANI)

Family of Big B

Legendary Indian film actor Amitabh Bachchan was born on 11 October 1942 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh to a Hindu-Sikh family. His father Hari Bachchan Rai Bachchan was a famous Hindi poet. His mother Teji Bachchan was a Sikh-Punjabi from Faisalabad (present day Pakistan).

He made his cinematic debut in 1969 at the age of only twenty. He played one of the seven main characters in a film called Sat Hindustani. In the early 1970s, he gained popularity in the Bollywood film world as an ‘angry young man’ and over time became one of the most important figures in the history of Indian cinema.

He has won numerous national awards, including three National Film Awards and twelve Filmfare Awards. He holds the record for most nominations in a Filmfare Best Actor Award. Apart from acting, he has also been seen as a behind-the-scenes singer, film producer and television presenter.
