Tipu urges NRBs in USA to invest in Bangladesh
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has urged the non-resident Bangladeshi (NRB) businessmen to invest in their motherland, saying that an excellent investment-friendly environment is now prevailing in Bangladesh.
“The government has announced a good number of attracting packages with numerous facilities to attract both local and foreign investment. All the investment related services have been brought in one door, from which speedy services are being delivered with less cost…as a result, the interest of investors has increased a lot,” he said.
The commerce minister said this while addressing as the chief guest a seminar titled “Bangladesh: The Next Investment Frontier” at Silicon Valley in Los Angeles on Friday local time organized by Start Up Bangladesh Limited with the support of the consul general office in Los Angeles.
Mentioning that some 100 special economic zones (SEZs) are being set in the country under the auspices of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Tipu said work of many SEZs is nearing completion while local and foreign investors have already started to make investments.
