Nasir-Tamima was ordered to appear in court
Cricketer Nasir Hossain, his wife Tamima Sultana Tammi and her mother Sumi Akhter, have been summoned to appear in court.
The court issued the summons on Thursday (September 30th) to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim following an application for an arrest warrant against them. Order to appear in court on October 31.
Earlier, PBI Inspector Sheikh Mizanur Rahman submitted an investigation report to the court that said Nasir and Tamima’s marriage was not “legal”.
The report also contains allegations against Tamima’s mother Sumi Akter.
On February 24, Md Rakib Hasan, who claims he is still married to Tamima, filed a case against Nasir accusing him of adultery and defamation. The court took cognisance of the case and handed over the investigation to the PBI.
According to the PBI report submitted today, the divorce documents of Tamima and Rakib were forged.
Tamima did not divorce Rakib and he also did not receive any divorce notice, said the report adding that she made a fake divorce notice and published it in different media, the report said.
She is still Rakib’s wife, and marrying anyone without divorcing her current husband is illegal and it is a punishable offence, the report further said.
Rakib filed the case on 24 February. Later, the court instructed PBI to investigate the case.
According to the case statement, Tamima Sultana did not divorce her previous husband Rakib, who made a general diary (GD) at Uttara West police station in this regard.
He got married to Tamima on 26 February 2011. They also have an 8-year-old daughter.
