Clean-feed was welcomed by the television owners

Welcoming the ad-free broadcast of foreign channels or Clean feed, the government should co-operate in enforcing the law, said Atco, an association of television owners.

Mozammel Haque Babu, senior vice president of the Association of Television Channel Owners-Atco, told a virtual press conference on Saturday evening that the Clean feed provision was 15 years old. It is to be implemented much earlier. Now the government is doing that.

“The balance between clean feed and digitalisation will benefit all stakeholders,” said Babu, managing director of Ekattar TV.

“The overflow of foreign advertisements needs to be reduced literally and we agree with the Minister of Information and Broadcasting on law enforcement,” he said.

The government has not shut down any foreign channels, only the distributor-operators here have not been able to run Cleanfeed, he said.

The ATCO spokesperson said that the Unity Council section of the Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh-Coab has shown interest in holding talks with the government out of respect for the law.

Moabammel Haque Babu said that there will be no result in the protest of Koab, respect for the law must be shown.

It is to be noted that as per the pre-announcement Cable Network Operation Act 2006, the operation of mobile courts has been started from October 1 under the direction of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to implement ad-free or clean feed broadcasting of foreign channels. The distributors of the foreign channels that have not yet been able to show Clean feed in this country have stopped broadcasting them.

The Information and Broadcasting Minister said, “They have been repeatedly asked to abide by the law for a long time. The government has not closed any channel, the distributor-operators have. I hope they will broadcast Clean-feed soon.
