Bangladesh will fight to reach the final today after 16 years

The Bangladesh team is still surviving in the SAFF Championship held in Maldives. Oscar Brujen’s side have only one match left in the first leg. And today in this match Jamal Bhuiyan’s team will fight against Nepal. Bangladesh will be assured of the final if they can win against the Himalayan country. And if Harley King draws, Nepal will play the final.

The match between the two teams will be held at 5 pm Bangladesh time at Male National Stadium.

The red-and-green jersey holders have only reached the final once (2005) since winning the SAFF Championship in 2003. Every time since 2012, the Bangladesh football team has left the group stage. They played the last semifinal almost a decade ago. Although the past is not happy, Jamal-Ziko’s Bangladesh is dreaming of the current safe title.

After losing to Sri Lanka in the current SAFF group stage, Oscar Brucene’s team was walking on the road of dreams by drawing against India. After that they lost 2-0 to Maldives. However, the dream of Jamal-Ziko is not ending now.

Nepal is in the second place with 6 points in three matches. Bangladesh is in the fourth place with 4 points. The host Maldives is at the top with 6 points in three matches. India have three wins with one win in three matches and five points in two draws. Sri Lanka is at the bottom with 1 point.

Bangladesh has not won the SAFF Championship three times. This time Jamal-Zikora will surely take revenge for the loss.

With the exception of Sri Lanka, all the other four teams are in the final. If Maldives and Nepal draw in the last round, they will go to the final. But if  lose, they have to say goodbye, whatever the outcome of the other match. India in three and Bangladesh in four have no choice but to win.

Nepal needs a draw to reach the final for the first time in the SAFF Championship. On the other hand, Bangladesh has no choice but to win. Midfielder Rakib Hossain and team manager Satyajit Das Rupu do not see pressure on themselves in such a situation. Their claim, not Bangladesh, but Nepal is under pressure!

In a video message sent by BFF, Rakib said, “We are not under pressure in this match. They (Nepal) will be under pressure. Since they have 6 points, we have 4 points, we will play to win. It (game strategy) cannot be said right now. But everyone is trying to play attacking. ‘

Team manager Satyajit Das Rupu said, “Nepal will have to lose to achieve the initial goal. He has planned the coach with the goal. Working. I think 90 minutes of play and a golden opportunity for us. The boys are ready. The people of the country are hoping, I hope the boys will not disappoint them. ‘
