Indian pilot killed as army’s cheetah helicopter crashes

SRINAGAR: An Indian army pilot succumbed to his injuries as his helicopter crashed near the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Gurez valley, NDTV reported.

The cheetah helicopter intended to rescue a paramilitary soldier of India’s border security personnel and carry him to the hospital. However, it failed to do so and ended up crashing near the Tulial area of the Gurez valley in North Kashmir. The co-pilot of the chopper is reported to be in critical condition.

As the area of the accident is densely covered with snow, the cause of the crash remains unknown. Further details will be revealed later as the investigation continues, the report added.

One of the officials said that the chopper “drifted away” due to weather conditions.
