Jamie Siddon to reach Dhaka today to rejoin BCB after a decade

Former head coach Jamie Siddons is all set to reach Dhaka today (Wednesday) to rejoin the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) at its batting consultant.

The BCB was supposed to use him wherever it could. However, the board now wants to associate him with the national team. In that case, Ashwell Prince will be given the responsibility of High Performance (HP) team.

Siddons’ appointment was finalized at the latest BCB board meeting.

“Siddons has been appointed as the BCB’s batting coach,” Jalal Yunus, chairman of the Cricket Board, told reporters on Tuesday. “We will use him whenever we get the chance. But we want him to work more with the national team now. It will be good for our cricketers if we can use his experience.”

Jamie Siddons previously served as the head coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team. He was the coach of the Tigers from 2007—2011. After the failure in the ICC World Cup, Siddons lost his job.

The likes of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim always acknowledged his great skills as a batting coach. According to them, Siddons played the biggest role in improving their batting at that time.

Siddons is very excited to be back in Bangladesh. “I plan to spend two years in Bangladesh,” he said in a video message. “We have a T20 World Cup in Australia in October this year. I’m looking forward to working with a few young players. Not only national team, I will also work in junior development program. I have worked there before. I love working there. ‘

Meanwhile, BCB’s contract with Ashwell Prince is up to this year’s T20 World Cup. Jalal Yunus said that he will be given the responsibility of HP unit.

“Prince will be given the responsibility of HP. Besides, we will think about where else it can be given. We need a lot of coaches. “
