Home Minister inaugurated ‘Police Freedom Fighters Memorial Museum’ in Rajshahi

Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal MP, Home Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh inaugurated the ‘Police Muktijoddha Smriti Jadughar’ by cutting the ribbon at Rajshahi Police Lines on Tuesday morning.

Later he toured the museum and signed the visitor’s book. At this time, the Home Minister said that during the Great War of Liberation, more than a hundred policemen were martyred in Rajshahi region. The museum was established to show the memory of their heroism and patriotism to the new generation. Martyrs are being remembered through this. Bangladesh will never forget their contribution.After inaugurating the museum, the Home Minister attended the anti-narcotics and terrorism rally as the chief guest.

There he unveiled the cover of the book ‘Muktijudde Rajshahi Police’. Later, he honored the family members of the martyred police freedom fighters. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said in the rally that the police have been successful in suppressing militancy and arson at the risk of their lives.

The new generation should be protected from the addiction of drugs. It is not just the ability of government or law enforcement to act unilaterally. The cooperation of people from all walks of life is necessary to make the society drug free.

When asked about his response to the torture of journalists in Rajshahi, the Home Minister said, “I am not fully aware of this.” I was outside. I heard the incident. I can’t say before the investigation. But those who have committed crimes, must face the law. Investigation required. Investigation done, wait a moment. Then action will be taken against them.

When asked about the tension on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, the Home Minister said, ‘The Rohingya community of Arakan has been evicted. There are about 1.2 million Rohingya population in Bangladesh. Now I hear, another group called Arakan Army is fighting with the government law enforcement forces. When they are going to attack, some shells are coming at us. He also said, ‘Our BGB has strongly protested about such shelling at the border. Our foreign ministry also protested by calling the ambassador of that country. Hopefully, such shootings will stop.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique presided over the event as special guests, Bangladesh Awami League presidium member Rajshahi City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Home Ministry Senior Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner GSM Zafarullah NDC, Rajshahi Range DIG Abdul Baten, Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil and Superintendent of Police ABM Masud Hossain.
Acting President of Rajshahi Metropolitan Awami League Mohammad Ali Kamal, General Secretary DW Sarkar, District Awami League General Secretary Abdul Wadud Dara were also present. Also, the leaders of Rajshahi metropolis and district of Awami League and other police officers were present.
