Women’s T20 WC Qualifiers: Bangladesh defeated Ireland

At their opening encounter in the Ladies’s T20 World Cup Qualifier on September 19 night in Abu Dhabi, Bangladesh women defeated Ireland by 14 runs.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh elected to bat first and scored 143 for 4 in 20 overs. Ireland scored 129 in 19.4 overs, losing the game by 14 runs.

The skipper of Bangladesh, Nigar Sultana scored 67 off 53 balls. She made one six and ten fours.

Shamima Sultana, opening batter also performed well, going 48 off 40 balls.

Leah Paul, Laura Delany, Arlene Kelly, and Eimear Richardson each claimed one wicket for Ireland.

Eimear Richardson only batter to provide some fight in response to Bangladesh’s difficult score. In just 26 deliveries, she earned 40 runs while hitting four fours and one six.

Amy Hunter and Laura Delany, the team’s captain, both scored 33 and 28. However they lost.

On September 19 and 21, Bangladesh’s next two games will be against Scotland and the United States of America. The international cricket stadium in Abu Dhabi will host both games.
