Shakib losing ACC envoy’s role

Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who often creates a controversy over various issues even outside the field, is going to be stripped of his role as the goodwill ambassador of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC Commissioner (investigation) Mozammel Haq Khan on Thursday told reporters that their contract with the southpaw will not be extended.

“Even though he (Shakib) is still the goodwill ambassador, we’ll not extend the deal. He’s not participating in the programmes to be held on the next International Anti-Corruption Day,” the ACC official said.

Khan clarified that they took the decision since the cricketer is considered controversial on various issues. “So, we don’t want to be linked to such people,” he adaded.

Mentionable, Shakib was appointed to the role for the anti-graft watchdog in 2018.
