Bangladesh seal ODI series
Bangladesh sealed the three-match ODI series against the West Indies after winning the second game convincingly by a seven-wicket margin on Friday.
Like the first ODI, the hosts had to chase another low total and they accomplished it as they reached their target of 149 in just 33.2 overs at the match at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
All-rounder Shakib al Hasan was unbeaten on 43 from 50 balls with four boundaries while wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim was not out at the other end with nine.
Skipper Tamim Iqbal and opener Liton Das gave a steady start to the hosts as they scored 30 runs before the latter departed.
Liton was impressive during his short stay at the crease and played some well timed shots to make 22 off 24 balls with four fours.
But he got out after becoming set as he was trapped in front by left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein in the fifth ball of the sixth over.
No 3 batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto failed to score big in pursuit of the below-par target once again as he made 17 from 26 deliveries.
Bangladesh off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz is delighted to showcase a strong performance after a below-par outing in the ongoing ODI series against visitors West Indies.
Later Tamim picked up his 48th ODI half-century as he faced 75 deliveries and struck three fours and a six. But in the very next ball, the left-hander was caught by wicket-keeper Joshua da Silva against seamer-allrounder Raymond Reifer.
The score was 109 for three then. From there on, two experienced campaigners Shakib and Mushfiq drove the side home safely.
Earlier, stand-in Windies captain Jason Mohammed won the toss and elected to bat first.
