Bashundhara is the league champion with record points

Bashundhara Kings, who secured the Bangladesh Premier League title with four matches in hand, could not win the last one. They drew 1-1 with Abahani in the last match at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.

Bashundhara finished the league with a record-highest 65 points from 24 matches in the Premier League. Dhaka Abahani came third with 47 points in the equal match. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club is runners up with 52 points.

Bashundhara footballers were overjoyed with the trophy after the last match against Abahani on Monday.

In the match, Tapu Varman led the team with a goal but became the villain with another suicide goal. Abahani went ahead with a suicide goal in the 28th minute of the match.

Bashundhara captain Tapu caught the ball in the net while trying to clear Raphael’s cross. After that Bashundhara got several opportunities to bring equality. But in the end, Tapu brought the team back to parity. In the 36th minute, Tapu Barman scored a great header from Robson’s free kick.

Goalkeeper Shahidul Alam Sohail saved Abahani twice in the 45th minute. First time, Sohail stopped Bishwanath’s head from Jonathan’s cross. Shahidul Alam then blocked Jonathan’s shot by jumping to the right as he came from the corner.

Abahani’s Sunday Chizoba wasted another chance in the 52nd minute. Bashundhara goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Zico wasted Abahani’s great effort in the 75th minute. On Sunday, Zico sent the ball out by jumping on Chizobar’s head or side.
