Shakib All-round Show Guides Bangladesh to easy win against New Zealand
Bangladesh registered a convincing seven-wicket win over New Zealand in 1st T20I with five overs to spare and go 1-0 up in T20I series.
After winning the toss, New Zealand opted to bat first. Apart from skipper Tom Latham (18) and Henry Nicholls (18) no other New Zealand batsman reached double figures.
The visitors were bowled just for 60 runs in 16.5 overs as Tigers struck continuously. It is the joint-lowest total for New Zealand in T20I cricket. Earlier, the blackcaps were bowled out for 60 runs against Sri Lanka in Chottogram in 2014.
For Bangladesh, Pacer Mostafizur Rahman smashed three wickets just for 13 runs in 2.5 overs.
Spinner Nasum Ahmed, pacer Mohammad Saifuddin and al-rounder Shakib Al Hasan shared two wickets while Mahedi Hasan bagged one.
Chasing Bangladesh were two down for seven runs on a low and slow wicket of Shere-Bangla National Stadium but Shakib Al Hasan (25) along with Mushfiqur Rahim (16) and Mahmudullah (14) ensured an easy win for the hosts.
Shakib Al Hasan (2/10 and 25 run) was adjudged man of the match.
